Captured "nobles" were imprisoned in St Sidwells church (including Walter Raleigh, father of the famous Sir Walter) which indicates that the beseigers were based in that vicinity near to the East Gate. There were assaults on the gate (perhaps as a result of Perkin Warbeck's attacks fifty years before). The armoury was located next to the East Gate, held by Sir Roger Blewett who commanded the militia and received the thanks of parliament on the lifting of the seige. His role is almost entirely omitted by Hooker, due in part to his own sympathies, but perhaps also due to Blewett's links to Lady Jane Grey and Seymour's party.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
